Jonathan Kuminga is yet another top-flight basketball recruit who has opted to participate in the NBA G League rather than college basketball.

By participating in the G League’s professional pathway program, Kuminga will play alongside the likes of Jalen Green, Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix, and Kai Sotto.

Hailing from The Patrick School in Hillside, New Jersey, the Democratic Republic of the Congo native has been ranked as the No. 4 player in the nation by ESPN, also making him the top prospect coming out of the state of New Jersey.

In the Class of 2021, Kuminga was named the number one recruit. He reclassified to the class of 2020 after graduating from high school last month. It was reported that, when mapping out his future, Kuminga had only five options in mind: Auburn, Duke, Kentucky, Texas Tech, and the G League.

Kuminga elaborated on his stance in a recent interview, explaining, “I don’t see myself as a high school player again. I see my potential as an NBA player and with the G League they’ll help me a lot more than college. They’ll help me off and on the court and to reach my goal to be the No. 1 draft (pick) in 2021.”
