Following the conclusion of the MLS is Back Tournament, Toronto FC marked their return to the regular MLS season against the Vancouver Whitecaps yesterday. The Torontonians enjoyed an emphatic 3-0 victory against their Canadian rivals.

Argentinian midfielder Pablo Piatti enjoyed a standout performance, scoring the first two MLS goals of his career. His first goal came in the 27th minute, when he rocketed the ball into the top left corner of the goal. In the 55th minute, Piatti scored his second, this time coolly slipping the ball past the keeper after receiving a well-placed ball from Jonathan Osorio.

In the 83rd minute, Nick DeLeon sealed the win for Toronto courtesy of a perfectly timed through ball from Alejandro Pozuelo.

This marked the first of nine games between the Canadian teams in the MLS. As the result of increased border restrictions following the COVID-19 outbreak, Toronto FC, Montreal Impact and the Vancouver Whitecaps will remain in Canada for what is known as the all-Canadian stretch of the competition. All results during this phase, however, will still count towards the MLS regular season standings.

The top team throughout the nine games will earn a place in the Canadian Championship final, where they will face off with winner of the Canadian Premier League title.
