Travis Sanheim Staying with the Flyers on a 8-Year, $50 Million Extension

Defenseman Travis Sanheim won’t be experiencing unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career after all. Instead, Sanheim decided to remain loyal to the Philadelphia Flyers and ink a long-term extension with the franchise.

According to the Flyers’ official announcement, Sanheim inked an eight-year, $50 million deal to remain with the organization through 2030-31. He is set to earn $5.35 million this season while playing on the final year of the two-year, $9.35 million contract he signed last year.

After the news became official, Sanheim said that he is excited to be able to continue playing in Philadelphia in years to come. $

“I love this city, love the fan base, and I’m excited to turn this around and get things going. There’s no better place to win than Philly,” Sanheim added.

As part of the agreement, Sanheim reportedly received a full no-trade clause through 2026 and 12 team no-trade list option until the rest of his contract.

Travis Sanheim was the 17th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut during the 2017–18 season and has since played 335 games in the league. Sanheim’s career stats include 29 goals and 87 assists for a total of 116 points.
