In the last two seasons, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold managed to become both UEFA Champions League winner and Premier League champion. Still, it appears that the trophies are not the only thing that matters to the talented 21-year old right back.

In a recent chat with The Telegraph, Alexander-Arnold revealed that the thing that motivates him to get better is becoming the club’s captain one day.

“Becoming Liverpool captain eventually motives me every day,” said Alexander-Arnold. “It is something I want to achieve. Obviously that will not be my decision, but if I did not manage that before the end of my career I would be disappointed.”

Despite his young age, Alexander-Arnold is already exemplifying some captaincy traits.

“Whether it happens or not, I feel it is my job at Liverpool to lead by example,” he added. “I always try to do that now – to be an example for the younger lads coming through.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold rose through ranks of Liverpool’s youth academy, making his debut for the senior team as an 18-year-old in 2016. After starting right-back Nathan Clyne suffered a serious injury early in 2017/18, Alexander-Arnold got the opportunity to take the starting job and never looked back.

Alexander-Arnold played 127 games with Liverpool so far and collected several individual and team achievements. He also became part of England’s national team, getting nine caps since 2018.
