The Seattle Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett broke a bone in his index finger during his team’s 21-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night. Coach Pete Carroll admitted that the team is still deciding on the best course of action, with surgery being an option.

According to Carroll, the injury is a spiral crack and is similar to that of running back Rashaad Penny in 2018. As a result, he believes that Lockett could return in as little as two weeks if surgery is performed.

“There’s a couple different ways that they can do the surgery,” Carroll revealed. “One of the ways gives him a chance to be back. Remember Rashaad Penny … had an injury similar, very similar. So they’ve already floated that thought and they’re going to talk about all the options and all that and we’re going to love him up and take care of him. Whatever the right thing to do to take care of him, we’re going to do.”

During eight NFL seasons, Lockett has only ever missed two games; one in 2016 due to a broken leg and one in 2021 due to COVID-19.
