Philadelphia Union’s midfielder Brenden Aaronson is taking his talents to Europe. According to reports Sports Illustrated’s Kristian Dyer, Union is close to finalizing a transfer that would see Aaronson head to Austrian side RB Salzburg.

Reportedly, Union and Salzburg already have a deal in place for the Aaronson, and only need to sort out several finer details. According to the agreement, the 19-year-old player would stay in Philadelphia until the end of 2020 before heading to Europe.

At Salzburg, Aaronson would be coached by former USMNT assistant and New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch.

Brenden Aaronson made his senior debut last season and immediately showed that he is one of the Philadelphia Union’s brightest young players. Aaronson finished the year with 25 starts under his belt, while contributing with three goals and two assists.

Aaronson started the 2020 MLS season even on a better note, with three goals and three assists in 13 games, capturing the attention of multiple clubs from Europe. Hoffenheim, Anderlecht, and Celtic were reportedly also in the running before Salzburg sealed the deal.

Aaronson made his USMNT debut back in February in a 1-0 win over Costa Rica.
