Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer isn’t ready to bail on the franchise after one bad game. And he made that very clear during a press conference on Wednesday.

Despite taking over the Jaguars less than nine months ago, Meyer was recently mentioned as one of the candidates for the USC head coaching job after the school fired Clay Helton. But speaking with the Jacksonville media, the three-time national champion said there is “no chance” he will return to college football anytime soon.

“I’m here and committed to trying to build this organization,” Meyer added.

Since being named the head coach of the Jaguars, Meyer had to deal with several controversies. This included the hiring of disgraced strength and conditioning coordinator Chris Doyle, who ended up resigning after just one day on the job and signing former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow to play tight end only to release him midway through the preseason.

Meyer also didn’t excel in his first regular-season game as an NFL head coach, with the Jaguars looking poor in Week 1 matchup against the Houston Texans and suffering a 37-21 loss.

During his career as a college head coach, Meyer had stints with Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State. He won two championships with the Gators and one with the Buckeyes while compiling 187–32 NCAA record.
