U.S. winger Khiry Shelton is returning home. After spending the year with Bundesliga side SC Paderborn 07, Shelton signed a multi-year deal with Sporting Kansas City.

According to reports, Shelton is under contract through 2022 with SKC holding an option for 2023.

Shelton previously played with Sporting in 2018, making 24 appearances and scoring twice. He also added five assists during that period.

“Khiry is an experienced player who we are excited to bring back to the club,” said SKC’s manager and sporting director Peter Vermes. “As the 2020 season approaches, we will continue to strengthen our roster with signings on all three lines of the field.”

After spending his entire career in the United States, Khiry Shelton decided to depart for Europe in January, signing a two-year deal with Paderborn. However, Shelton didn’t manage to show much in Germany, as he made only two appearances for Paderborn’s first team before being released recently.

Shelton previously also played for New York City FC, where he made 56 appearances and scored six goals alongside 10 assists.
