USC’s star quarterback Caleb Williams announced via social media on Monday that he will officially enter the 2024 NFL Draft. Williams is considered the favorite for the No. 1 overall pick, which is currently held by the Chicago Bears.

“Since I was 10, all I ever wanted to do was to play football,” Williams wrote in a post shared across his official social media profiles. “The journey would be empty without the people who have supported and loved me. I will Fight On forever and rep Hornsdown4Life. I’m ready to do whatever it takes. I am officially declaring for the NFL Draft.”

Williams also attached a pair of photos in USC uniform and a clip that features late NBA legend Kobe Bryant speaking about wanting to become the best basketball player ever.

Caleb Williams is heading to the pros after playing three seasons of college football. He started for Oklahoma Sooners as a true freshman in 2021 before following head coach Lincoln Riley to USC, where he played two more years.

Williams has a 23−10 record as a starter, completing 66.9 percent of his passes while throwing for 10,082 yards, 93 touchdowns, and 14 picks. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2022.

There is a near consensus about Williams being the top quarterback in this year’s class with the potential of being a franchise quarterback. It remains to be seen whether the Bears will sit tight and draft Williams or decide to go with Justin Fields and ship the pick to the highest bidder.
