U.S. international winger Julian Green signed an extension with Greuther Fürth that will extend his stay with the club through the 2020/21 season, at least. The Bundesliga side confirmed the news on Tuesday.

Green’s new deal also contains a club option for the 2021/22 and a buyout clause. The clause was reportedly inserted due to recent interest the 25-year-old received from European and MLS clubs.

Green initially joined Greuther Fürth on loan during the 2017/18 season, and has several impressive performances for the club that secured him a permanent stay. This season he emerged as one of the club’s most consistent players, making 20 appearances and scoring four goals alongside one assist.

“We have improved every year now, and I want to do my part to ensure that we continue to pursue this development,” said Green after inking the deal. “Working with the coaching team, the whole team, and everyone in the club has been a lot of fun. I am convinced of the quality that is in our team.”

Julian Green has been a member of the United States men’s national team since 2014 when he was made a part of the country’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil squad. Green made his debut during Round of 16 part of the tournament and needed only two minutes to score a goal, becoming the youngest USMNT scorer on FIFA World Cup in history of the team.

Green made a total of 15 appearances with USMNT, scoring four times. His last call-up came in 2018.
