The United States Men’s National Team is facing a growing list of injury concerns ahead of the fast approaching 2022 World Cup following news that Midfielder Luca de la Torre has suffered a leg injury. His club side, Celta Vigo, announced on Friday that this injury setback is expected to keep him out of action for three weeks.

The Spanish La Liga club revealed that de la Torre has a muscle tear in his left leg, but while he is unable to play as a result, he is expected to be fit by the time the world cup begins on November 20.

“I have spoken with the doctor, it is a small [injury],” Celta Vigo coach Eduardo Coudet confirmed. “He will surely make it [to the World Cup]. He is a player who has a role with his national team, so there won’t be any problem.”

De la Torre made four appearances for the United States during their World Cup qualifying campaign and was also in the starting lineup for the recent friendly match against Japan which ended in a 2-0 defeat.

The USMNT is set to face Wales in their World Cup opener on November 21 and will go on to face fellow Group B participants England and Iran.
