One of the brightest young starts of the US Men’s National team decided to take a big step in his career on Tuesday, agreeing to a deal with Turkish Super Lig powerhouse Besiktas.

Boyd spent the second half of last season in Turkey on loan to Ankaragucu, and his success in the league was enough to convince him to stay. He did well in the Super Lig, making an immediate impact by scoring 6 goals in just 14 games.

Besiktas reportedly paid Boyd’s former parent club, Vitória de Guimarães in Portugal, $2.2 million to acquire the winger’s services. Boyd’s contract with Besiktas is for four years.

Boyd, who spent half of his childhood in the United States and half in New Zealand, will have the opportunity to play in one of the most important cities in world soccer, Istanbul, and will also participate in the UEFA Europa League with Besiktas in the 2019-20 season.

The forward is still only 24 years old, and the move to Besiktas will give him the opportunity to take the next step in his career. He has the potential to become one of the brightest stars in the USMNT, and he’s proven it with this move to Turkey.
