The U.S. camp at Leeds United just got bigger. The Premier League side confirmed on Monday that the United States men’s national team star midfielder Weston McKennie will be joining the club in a transfer from Seria A powerhouse Juventus.

McKennie will be joining his USMNT teammates Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams, who arrived at Elland Road in the summer. Leeds also Americans Jesse March and Chris Armas serving as manager and assistant coach, respectively.

According to reports, McKennie will initially join Leeds on loan until the end of the 2022/23 season for a fee of €1.2 million. The club can make the move permanent in the summer by exercising a buyout option of €33 million.

Weston McKennie has been in the middle of transfer rumors for a while now, with several Premier League clubs expressing interest in his services, including Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. However, the 24-year-old player ended up staying in Italy in the summer, hoping he could get a more prominent role for the Italian club.

McKennie played 21 games in all competitions this season, including 13 starts in Seria A, scoring three goals and contributing with two assists. But despite being a rare bright spot for Juve in 2022/23, he was still made available for transfer as the club found itself in a challenging financial situation due to the recent 15-point deduction imposed by the Italian football federation for transfer irregularities.
