Following the final day of Premier League action, Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy has been crowned this season’s top scorer. Vardy scored 23 goals in 35 appearances, including vital goals against the likes of Arsenal, Everton, Sheffield United, and Manchester City.

While Vardy remained the Golden Boot front runner for the majority of the season, there were a number of top competitors who remained hot on his heels.

Arsenal and Gabon forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came in a close second place with 22 goals in 36 appearances. He enjoyed a particularly strong start to the season, scoring seven goals in his first seven games. The Gunners’ captain also finished strong, scoring two goals in Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over Watford on the final day of the season.

Tied with Aubameyang on 22 goals was Southampton striker Danny Ings. The English national performed in every game of Southampton’s season, scoring match-winning goals against Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Watford, Norwich City, and Sheffield United.

Despite a relatively calm finish to the season, Vardy held onto top spot. His peak performance came between his ninth and 16th league appearance, when he scored an impressive 11 goals in just eight outings.
