Veteran cornerback Quinton Dunbar received a new chance to land a roster spot on an NFL team after being released from the Arizona Cardinal’s practice squad earlier this month. Dunbar’s next stop is the Green Bay Packers, where he will also start his journey as a practice squad player.

The Packers confirmed the news about Dunbar’s signing on social media alongside the announcement that wideout Equanimeous St. Brown has been promoted to the active roster.

Dunbar most recently played in 2020, making six starts with the Seattle Seahawks. He contributed with 30 tackles, five passes defended, and one interception, but this wasn’t enough for the franchise to keep him after the season wrapped up. The 29-year-old then signed with the Detroit Lions early in the 2021 offseason but ended up being cut before playing a single game with the franchise.

Dunbar might have an easier way to crack the active roster with the Packers, especially since the team recently lost their star corner Jaire Alexander to a shoulder injury. Green Bay currently has 2021’s first-round pick Eric Stokes and veteran Kevin King, as its top choices on the CB positions but don’t have many reliable options further down the depth chart.

Quinton Dunbar made the biggest mark with the Washington Football Team, playing for the franchise between 2015 and 2019. During that time, he played 58 games and had 150 tackles to go with nine interceptions and 35 pass deflections.
