New York Giants’ secondary has been hampered with failed deals and injuries this offseason, but the help is on the way. According to NFL Networks’ Ian Rapoport, Giants signed veteran corner/safety Logan Ryan to a one-year deal.

Ryan is coming off a career season in which he had 113 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 18 passes defended, four interceptions, and four forced fumbles with Tennessee Titans. Despite this, Titans passed on the opportunity to bring him back and send the 29-year-old veteran to the open market.

Rapoport reports that Ryan will earn $7.5 million in 2020.

Logan Ryan is definitely a big boost for Giants’ secondary, which recently lost rookie Xavier McKinney to a foot injury. The team is also without DeAndre Baker, who is suspended, and Sam Beal, who opted out due to coronavirus-related concerns.

It remains to be seen how Giants will use their newest acquisition. While Ryan spent his entire career playing corner, he recently told interested NFL teams that he now considers himself a safety.

Besides the Titans, Ryan also played with New England Patriots over the course of his career. His NFL stats include 491 tackles, 11.0 sacks, 17 interceptions, 48 passes defended and one defensive touchdown.
