Veteran OT Jason Peters: “I Can Play Into My 40s”

The fact that he still doesn’t have a team for 2020 NFL season isn’t making veteran offensive tackle Jason Peters question his future in the league. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Peters, who turned 38 in January, thinks he can still be impactful on the field and is even considering playing into his 40s.

Peters arguably already produced a Hall of Fame-worthy career, earning nine Pro Bowl nods and winning a Super Bowl ring in 2017. Still, it seems like he wouldn’t mind adding more to his case.

“If Tom Brady can play into his 40s, I can play into my 40s. I feel great,” said Peters recently.

As Garafolo points out, there is a chance that Jason Peters could return to Philadelphia Eagles, as he spent the previous 11 seasons with the franchise. However, Eagles are not willing to spend much on the veteran as they want to keep cap flexibility.

Peters’ veteran leadership could also be useful for the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets. Both teams have young and inexperienced quarterbacks while seeing significant struggles on the offensive line. With Peters on board, they could gain valuable stability.
