The San Francisco 49ers have boosted their wideout depth by reportedly signing veteran wide receiver Willie Snead. According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, Snead inked a one-year deal with the franchise.

Snead was with the 49ers in 2022 as well but hasn’t seen much action. He spent most of the time on the practice squad and only managed to log 30 snaps on offense.

Getting Snead back in the building is a smart move by the 49ers, considering the injuries they had on the wideout position in recent years. The 30-year-old player could also see some action on special teams, considering he took 38 snaps as a special teamer last season.

Willie Snead entered the league in 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of Ball State. After spending time on practice squads with multiple teams in his rookie season, Snead got an opportunity to play a more prominent role with the New Orleans Saints. He went on to deliver back-to-back seasons with at least 69 catches, 895 receiving yards, and three touchdowns for the Saints.

Snead struggled to remain productive in 2017, causing the Saints to let him walk in free agency. He later played with the Baltimore Ravens and the Las Vegas Raiders but failed to find the same success he had in New Orleans.
