Veteran forward Andre Iguodala is still not ready to call it quits. The NBA Finals MVP from 2015 recently confirmed on his Point Forward podcast that he will play in the 2022-23 NBA season. This will be the 19th season in the league for the 38-year-old player.

Explaining his decision, Iguodala said that he believed he would retire for the better part of the summer. However, his Golden State Warriors teammates and team brass talked him out of it.

“I was retired for the majority of the summer, but my brothers, they kind of, they reeled me back it,” Iguodala said. “So really looking forward to it. Got a big trip to Japan coming soon, and I think we just got a good plan with the staff, with the Warriors as well, so they came with a good plan, kinda make it make sense.”

Andre Iguodala has been a key piece during the Warriors’ successful stretch that saw them win four championships in the past eight years. While he didn’t play a lot last season, Igoudala is considered an indispensable presence in the locker room and a player who can still make a difference on the floor with his defensive prowess.

Throughout his career, Iguodala also played with the Philadelphia 76ers, the Denver Nuggets, and the Miami Heat. He has one career All-Star appearance and two All-Defensive nods.
