Washington will have to get creative on the wide receiver position ahead of the 2020 NFL season. According to reports, the team’s starting wideout Kelvin Harmon tore his ACL and won’t play this year.

Harmon reportedly suffered the injury during a workout while preparing for training camp. The 22-year-old player underwent successful surgery last week.

This will be a tough blow for Washington, as Harmon supposed to be their starter alongside another second-year player in Terry McLaurin. The team already lacked reliable options on the WR position, considering the rest of the receiving crop includes 2019’s undrafted agent Steven Sims and rookie Antonio Gandy-Golden. The only veteran on the team is Cody Latimer, and he might not make it to Week 1 due to off-the-field issues.

Kelvin Harmon spent his college career at NC State, where he totaled 177 receptions for 2,665 yards and 16 touchdowns in three years. Harmon then declared for 2019 NFL Draft where he was selected in the sixth round by Washington.

Harmon ended up playing all 16 games in his rookie season, starting eight of them and showed significant promise. He particularly excelled in run-blocking and was efficient in gaining yards after the catch.
