West Bromwich Albion Fires Manager Slaven Bilic

West Bromwich Albion might have come out of their Tuesday match against Manchester City on a somewhat positive note, but the team’s overall poor form on the season led them to make the decision to fire head coach Slaven Bilic.

The Croatian manager, who took over at West Brom last June and led the team to a promotion to the Premier League after a second-place finish in the EFL Championship, was not able to replicate last year’s magic in England’s top flight.

West Brom currently sits in 19th place in the Premier League, having managed just one victory and a total of seven points on the season. The Baggies, despite their poor form, are just two points away from climbing out of the relegation zone.

The team’s weak defense was its main problem under Bilic. West Brom has conceded 26 goals this season, the most in the Premier League, and the club is likely to look for a new manager who might be able to shore up its shaky back line.

Now, West Brom will be tasked with finding a new manager who can get them back into the fight to remain in England’s top flight for next season before it’s too late.
