Canadian winger Robby Fabbri has been with Detroit Red Wings for less than a season, but it appears that he already hopes for a long-term future with the organization.

Fabbri, who came to Detroit in November from St. Louis Blues, is set to become a restricted free agent in the offseason, and the two sides still haven’t engaged in contract talks. However, if the Red Wings approach him with a good offer, the 24-year-old already plans to accept it.

“Everything has been great since the first day I came to Detroit,” Fabbri told The Detroit News on Wednesday. “It’s a great organization, great group of guys, a great opportunity here, so it’s definitely a place I want to be and play for as long as I can.“

After several injury-riddled seasons with the Blues, Fabbri managed to get his career back on track since arriving to Detroit. He played 52 games with Red Wings in 2019/20 and contributed with 14 goals and 17 assists. The 31 points total points this season are his best effort since 2015/16.

“I was able to rejuvenate my career and they gave me a chance. I couldn’t be happier,” he added.

Robby Fabbri won’t be able to add to his resume in 2019/20, considering the fact Red Wings have 17-49-5 record and won’t get a chance to participate in Stanley Cup playoffs. NHL previously decided to resume its activities by ending the regular season, which was suspended back in March, and going straight to the postseason with 22 teams and in-play tournament.

Fabbri was a first-round pick in 2014 and has 216 NHL career games in which he scored 46 goals and dished 58 assists. He is also a Stanley Cup winner, having won one with Blues last season.
