Despite losing to an underdog in the playoffs for the second year in a row, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo says that he has no intention of asking the Bucks to trade him.

When asked about the possibility of a trade in the offseason, Antetokounmpo said “it’s not happening”, adding that the Bucks need to focus on getting better as a team and getting “right back at it next season”.

Milwaukee was humiliated in the second round of the playoffs, getting absolutely clobbered by the Miami Heat and losing the series in just five games. To add insult to injury, the only game that the Bucks won was one in which Antetokounmpo had to leave because of an ankle injury.

Antetokounmpo will become a free agent after next season. This means that if he does not request a trade, the Bucks have next season to prove to him that they can build a championship-caliber team around him.

Milwaukee finished the last two regular seasons with the best record in the league, led predominantly by Antetokounmpo, who was named league MVP last year, Defensive Player of the Year this season, and has a good chance of winning the MVP title in back-to-back seasons.

The Bucks lost to the current NBA champions, the Toronto Raptors, in last year’s Easter Conference Finals.
