Despite his indefinite suspension from the NFL, former Pro Bowl wideout Josh Gordon still found a way to play football. Gordon will join the FCF Zappers, who are set to play in the newly-created Fan Controlled Football league.
The news was confirmed by Zappers co-owner Bob Menery, who previously also got former first-round pick Johnny Manziel to quarterback his team.
Gordon last played in 2019, when he appeared in 11 games with the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. He caught 27 passes combining for 426 yards and a touchdown.
The NFL suspended Gordon indefinitely in December 2019 but conditionally reinstated him after 12 months. He didn’t see the field, however, when the league determined that he had broken the terms of the reinstatement and handed him another suspension.
Fan Controlled Football, which started its inaugural season in February, is played 7-on-7 in indoor facilities. The league is fan-focused since they’re the ones setting the rosters and calling the plays.
The FCF received big backing from athletes, with several of them having a stake in one of the teams, including former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, retired running back Marshawn Lynch, and Minnesota Vikings star Dalvin Cook.
