New York Yankees’ are adding badly needed depth to their injury-riddled outfield. Yankees announced on Thursday that they have acquired outfield Cameron Maybin in a trade from Cleveland Indians. The Indians received cash consideration in exchange.

“He has the ability to play all outfield positions and obviously right now we’re a little left-handed out there,” – said manager Aaron Boone of Maybin. “We have two lefties coming up in (a series at) San Francisco. He’s a good athlete with versatility to so he provides us with good flexibility.”

Yankees made the move shortly after Clint Frazier suffered an ankle sprain and joined Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Hicks on the list of team’s injured outfielders.

Cameron Maybin is considered to be an MLB journeyman as Yankees will be his 10th team in the majors. He spent the 2018 season with Miami Marlins and Seattle Mariners, batting .249 with four homers and 28 RBIs.

After his contract with the Mariners expired, Maybin signed a minor league contract with San Francisco Giants back in February but was released after just one month. He then signed with the Indians and started the season with the team’s affiliate Columbus Clippers.

Maybin’s MLB career stats include .254 batting average, 60 home runs and 315 RBIs.
