New York Yankees pitcher Domingo German is not retiring after all. German apologized for causing confusion about his future in baseball after previously hinting on social media that his professional career is over.

German, who is currently under suspensions, posted several posts on Instagram on Friday that made people believe he is retiring. In one of them, he even wrote: “I’ve left baseball. Thanks everyone,” in Spanish.

However, just a day after, he decided to backtrack on his original statement.

“To my teammates, the Yankees organization, and our fans, I am very sorry for the unsettling post last night,” German wrote in an Instagram story over the weekend.

German explained that being suspended and spending time away from the team has “taken a toll” on him and that he let emotions “get the best” out of him.

“Baseball is my life, and I promise I’m not walking away,” he added.

Domingo German had a productive season with Yankees in 2019, posting an 18-4 record and leading the team in wins. He also had a 4.03 ERA with 153 strikeouts.

However, German couldn’t finish the season as he was handed an 81-game suspension by MLB for domestic violence. He still has 63 games to serve, which means he could only play in 2020 if Yankees make it to playoffs.
