Despite losing at home to 8th ranked North Carolina on Wednesday night, the worst news that the Duke Blue Devils might have gotten is that their sensational freshman Zion Williamson suffered a knee injury early in the game.

Williamson, who is considered the top player in college basketball and the favorite to be the first pick in this year’s NBA Draft, suffered a bizarre knee injury in the early moments of last night´s game against Duke´s bitter rivals.

The 6´7¨, 285 pound forward jumped and planted his right foot to drive towards the basket when his shoe literally exploded.

This strange turn of the events caused Williamson to fall to the ground, clutching his knee, leaving Duke fans and NBA GMs alike in a state of concern as he left the court with an injury.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski announced after the game that the injury was a ¨mild knee sprain,¨ which allayed fans´deepest fears about what could have been a serious injury.

Duke suffered without their star player and eventually lost the game 88 to 72 against their bitter rivals.

The game was played in front of celebrities such as former US president Barack Obama and film director Spike Lee, as well as a cadre of NBA scouts and decision makers.
