The New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson will not be available for his team’s game against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday after he entered the league’s health and safety protocols.

Williamson’s absence from the game will be a major concern for the Pelicans given his impact on the team’s success this season. The 22-year-old player has averaged 25.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game this season while sitting on 60.3% shooting from the field.

Appearing in 25 of the Pelicans’ 30 games so far this season, Williamson missed two games in late October after suffering a lower back/right hip contusion. He missed three games in November due to a right foot contusion.

Brandon Ingram will also be absent from Thursday’s game as he continues to recover from a left big toe contusion that he picked up on November 25.

Despite Ingram’s setback, Williamson more than covered for him during his absence, increasing his averages to 28.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.5 steals during Ingram’s 11-game absence.
