]]>Jackson, who had a workout with the Ravens the same day he inked the deal, is expected to be elevated to the team’s active roster for Sunday’s game against divisional rivals Cleveland Browns.
Jackson is expected to add some boost to Ravens’ passing game, which was mediocre at best so far in 2022. The 35-year-old player should especially be useful as a deep threat for quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is currently one of worst signal-callers in the league when airing it out. Only 21% of Jackson’s passes have traveled 20+ yards by air, which is the second-lowest percentage among starting QBs.
DeSean Jackson is best known for his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he had three Pro Bowls and one All-Pro nod between 2008 and 2013. Jackson later embarked on stints with Washington and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before returning to the Eagles for a second spell in 2019.
Jackson split the 2021 NFL campaign between the Los Angeles Rams and the Las Vegas Raiders. He had a combined 20 catches for 454 yards and two touchdowns.

]]>“Nah, I ain’t retired! I’m a free agent, and ready to go,” Jackson said when asked whether he’s officially retired from the game of football.
When asked to name his preferred destinations, Jackson shared that his top choice is the Eagles, while his second option would be the Green Bay Packers.
DeSean Jackson spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Eagles. He made three Pro Bowls while in Philadelphia and got one Second-team All-Pro selection during that time. Jackson also played with Washington and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before returning to the Eagles for his second stint in 2019.
Jackson started the 2021 NFL season with the Los Angeles Rams but ended up playing just seven games before being released upon his request. He later signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he made 12 catches for 233 yards and a touchdown in nine games. The Rams went on to win a Super Bowl, and despite the fact he wasn’t on the team for the whole season, Jackson received a Super Bowl ring from the franchise.

Jackson joined the Rams on a one-year deal in the offseason and envisioned playing a big role in the offense as a deep threat. But while the 34-year-old had a promising start to his stint in Los Angeles, his playing time diminished as the season progressed. This prompted the three-time Pro Bowler to ask for a trade, something the organization wasn’t opposed to.
The Rams had talks with several teams in recent days in attempts to trade Jackson but failed to find a deal that works for them. The interested parties believed the player will get released eventually and didn’t want to give up major assets for him.
Jackson leaves the Rams having made eight catches for 221 yards and one touchdown in seven games.
“I am very grateful for the time that I spent playing for the LA Rams,” said Jackson in a statement posted on social media. “Although this isn’t the outcome that we wanted, I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity & support given to me by the Rams coaches & all of the fans.”

]]>Jackson joined Philly for the second time ahead of the 2019 NFL season in a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The veteran, however, never managed to make an expected impact.
During the past two seasons, Jackson struggled with injuries and only managed to play eight games in total. This resulted in 23 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns.
Besides his inability to stay on the field, Jackson’s release was also influenced by the Eagles’ financial situation. Philadelphia will save around $6 million with the move, giving them a badly-needed relief as they attempt to get under the projected salary cap.
The Eagles are expected to release several more players in the coming days, including veteran wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.
DeSean Jackson was drafted by Philadelphia with the second-round pick in 2008. He spent six seasons with the franchise in his first stint, earning three Pro Bowl selections and one All-Pro nod during that time.
Jackson left Philly in 2014 and went on to play for the Washington Redskins and Tampa Bay before returning home. He has 612 career catches for 10,656 yards and 56 touchdowns.

“Leading up to the game, he had been in his rehab, running, and felt really good,” – said Pederson. “He had a great week of practice and preparation and we had looked at the Bears game as a possible date for him to return and play. He felt good. It was something we had a lot of collaboration on, not only with our doctors but with DeSean to play in this football game. He was going to be limited, we knew that going in. He wasn’t going to play the full game. Everybody was comfortable with that decision.”
“But I fully expect him to be good in a couple of weeks,” he added.
