Belgian forward Eden Hazard is retiring from soccer. Hazard, who starred for Premier League’s Chelsea and La Liga’s Real Madrid, announced his decision on Tuesday.

Hazard will walk away at the age of 32. He made the decision after failing to find a new club this past summer.

“You must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time,” Hazard wrote on Instagram. “After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer. I was able to realize my dream, I have played and had fun on many pitches around the world.”

Hazard agreed to a mutual contract termination with Real Madrid back in early June. Since then, there have been rumors about him continuing his career in Saudi Arabia and Australia, but neither of the proposed moves materialized.

Eden Hazard rose to prominence with Ligue 1 side Lille, where he displayed impressive technique and control of the ball while shouldering the task of being the team’s main creative force on the pitch. After five years of playing professionally in Lille, a stint that included a Ligue 1 title in 2010-11, Hazard secured a move to Chelsea.

Hazard immediately made an impact in London and emerged as the team’s best player during two Premier League title-winning runs. He ended up scoring 110 goals and dishing 92 assists in 352 games with Chelsea before leaving to join Real.

Real expected Hazard to make the same impact at Santiago Bernabeu as he made during his previous stops, but that didn’t happen. Hazard never lived up to his €100 million transfer fee, struggling with injuries and lack of form. In four years in Spain, the Belgian made only 76 appearances in all competitions and scored seven goals.

After Eden Hazard agreed to a mutual termination of his contract with La Liga giants Real Madrid earlier this month, rumors started circling that the Belgium midfielder is looking to retire. But according to the player himself, that isn’t an option at the moment.

Speaking with Belgium’s media outlet RTBF, Hazard said that he isn’t thinking about walking away from the game and believes he can still perform at a high level.

“I still feel capable of being a professional footballer; my body can take it,” Hazard said.

Hazard even joked that he has been “resting” while with Real in the past couple of seasons, referring to the fact that he didn’t play much, so he managed to save up some energy.

“I’ve been resting for two or three years, so I still have a bit of energy!” the 32-year-old player added.

Eden Hazard arrived at Santiago Bernabeu as one of the best players in the world and left as a player who probably isn’t interesting to big clubs despite being a free agent.

During his time with Real, Hazard experienced injuries, struggled with form, and went through periods of inconsistency that limited his impact with Los Blancos. Despite having six trophies on his resume with Real, including two La Liga titles and one UEFA Champions League, Hazard did little to contribute to them. He only played 76 games across all competitions in four seasons with Real and has seven goals to show for it.

It is unclear what the future holds for Hazard. He has been linked with a move to MLS recently, where CF Montreal is believed to be interested in his services. However, it looks like the player still hasn’t made the final decision.

Real Madrid is ready to take advantage of the stalled contracts between star forward Mohamed Salah and Liverpool. According to recent reports, the La Liga club is looking to propose a swap deal for Salah that would see Belgium forward Eden Hazard heading to the Reds.

Real is aware that Hazard’s value significantly dropped after he struggled to make an impact at Santiago Bernabeu, so they are reportedly also willing to include an additional transfer fee to sweeten the deal.

Liverpool and Salah have been in talks about the player’s new contract since the summer but still haven’t managed to come to an agreement. The club’s most recent offer includes close to a $500K weekly salary plus bonuses, but it still might not be enough for the 29-year-old to remain at Anfield. If that’s the case, the Premier League team is expected to consider selling Salah in order to avoid losing him for free in 2023.

Real, who is believed to be in a good financial situation after avoiding major transfer expenses in recent seasons, would likely have no problem making Salah a significantly bigger offer. They have long admired the Egypt international and were linked with a move for him on several occasions before.

Salah has been stellar for Liverpool this season, scoring nine goals and adding three assists in nine games. He had 31 goals in 2020-21.

Hazard, on the other hand, still hasn’t scored or had an assist since the new La Liga seasons started. He only has five goals and nine assists since joining Real from Chelsea back in 2019.

The Iceland national football team has been officially relegated from League A of the UEFA Nations League, following their 2-1 defeat to Belgium on Wednesday evening.

Despite both Kevin De Bryne and Eden Hazard being unavailable due to injury, Belgium was still able to maintain their dominance throughout the game, with 68% possession.

The visitors enjoyed a strong start to the match, with star striker Romelu Lukaku outmaneuvering three defenders to score a 9th-minute opener. Despite this early setback, Iceland pushed back hard, finding the back of the net in the 17th minute courtesy of a Birkir Sævarsson fired low into the bottom corner.

Unfortunately for the hosts, this would be the end of any good news being delivered in their direction, as they were unable to find the back of the net in what was a tight contest. Ultimately, it took a 38th-minute Lukaku penalty to hand Belgium the three points.

While Belgium now is now in first place in League A’s Group 2, Iceland remains on zero points. With seven points separating themselves and third-placed England and just two games left to play, it is now mathematically impossible for Iceland to avoid relegation to League B next season.

Real Madrid’s star forward Eden Hazard has been struggling to stay healthy last season, and it appears this trend continues in 2020/21. Despite being expected to make his season debut this week, Hazard suffered an injury setback and will be out for several more weeks.

According to Real’s official announcement, Hazard has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his right leg that is threatening to sideline him at least three weeks. However, depending on the recovery process, he could miss even more time.

According to this timeline, Hazard might miss several important games, including El Classico against Barcelona in late October.

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, arriving on Santiago Bernabe from Chelsea in a $120 million transfer. Despite being expected to be the club’s next big star, Hazard failed to make any major impact on the club in his first season in Spain.

Due to a combination of fitness issues and injuries, Hazard was limited to only 22 games in 2019/20 and has scored only one goal in Real’s jersey. This goal came on October 5, 2019, in a 4-2 win over Granada, meaning that the 29-year-old player now spent almost a full year without finding the net.

Besides Hazard, Real will also be unable to count on German midfielder Toni Kross, who experienced gluteal issues in a win against Betis over the weekend. The team confirmed the decision on Tuesday but didn’t detailed timeline for Kross’ recovery.

Summer signing Eden Hazard has had a rough start to his career with Real Madrid, missing significant time due to various injuries. After a three-month absence due to an ankle microfracture, the Belgian star returned to the Madrid lineup in his team’s 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo.

Hazard started on the left-wing for the Spanish club, playing 73 minutes before being taken off for Vinicius Jr. with Madrid leading 2-1.

The Belgian impressed during his return from injury, making life difficult for Celta’s defenders. While Hazard didn’t provide any assists or score a goal on Sunday night, he dribbled masterfully around defenders and created opportunities for his team to score.

The 29-year-old is expected to be a key piece of Real Madrid’s stretch run towards a La Liga title and in the Champions League. Los Blancos find themselves on top of La Liga, with only one point separating them from second-place FC Barcelona.

Hazard returns just in time for Real Madrid’s Champions League Round of 16 tie against Manchester City, whose first leg will be held in the Spanish capital next week.

Real Madrid hopes that its $108 million summer signing will improve his team’s attack and lead his team to at least one title before the end of the season.

Real Madrid was dealt a tough blow just before their Saturday La Liga opener against Celta Vigo after learning that superstar signing Eden Hazard will miss the beginning of the season after suffering a hamstring injury.

Hazard apparently picked up the injury in a training session before Los Blancos’ trip to Vigo for their La Liga opener. While the team hasn’t provided specifics about how long the star midfielder/winger will miss, most publications have estimated that he could miss Real Madrid’s first four matches of the season.

The Belgian star was signed on a $111 million transfer from Chelsea during the summer.

This is the last news that Real Madrid and coach Zinedine Zidane wanted to hear after a rough preseason that was also spoiled by injuries. Real Madrid won only two of their seven preseason matches and lost key players such as Marco Asensio and Ferland Mendy due to various physical problems.

Now, with arguably the best player on the team out for Real Madrid’s opening stretch of the 2019-20 La Liga campaign, Real Madrid has more questions than answers as they look to improve on a third place finish last year.

Zidane and Los Blancos will cross their fingers and hope that Hazard will be able to make his return to the field sooner rather than later.

The Spanish club Real Madrid revealed that it will be reinforcing its lines with the midfielder from Chelsea, Eden Hazard. The club sees Hazard as the perfect replacement for Gareth Bale who has been struggling with injuries and is expected to leave at the end of the season.

It was confirmed that the player will be transferred to the Spanish team after they reached an agreement with Chelsea on the price, which is set to be around 112 million US dollars (100 million euros), plus add-ons. The two teams have not agreed on the exact amount yet but it was stated that in the next few days they will reveal the sum to the public.

After Chelsea’s 4–1 win against Arsenal F.C. in the Europa League in May, he said that he “thinks it is a goodbye but that you never know in football”. Maurizio Sarri, the manager of Chelsea, said that he knew that Hazard wanted to leave the team for some time.

Hazard, who is 28 years old in the moment, will leave Chelsea after seven years playing for a team that won two Europa League titles, two Premier League titles and one FA Cup.
