After an unexpected slip-up against Sassuolo earlier this week, Inter Milan bounced back on Saturday with a resounding 0-4 win over Salernitana. All four of Inter’s goals were scored by Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, who made some history in the process.

Martinez started the game on the bench and made his way into the game in the 55th minute. He proceeded to score his first goal seven minutes later and added three more by the 89th minute. By doing so, he became the first player to score four goals as a substitute in a single Seria A match.

Martinez was on a hot scoring streak even before the Salernitana game, scoring five times in the previous six Seria A matches. He now has 10 goals in eight matches in all competitions this season.

“I scored four goals but the important thing is that Inter won the game,” said Martinez after the game. “It was crucial for us. We lost a game at San Siro that I don’t think we deserved but we conceded two goals from our errors, so we had to win today.”

Inter won their opening five matches of the 2022-23 season in the domestic league before suffering a surprising 1-2 loss to Sassuolo on Wednesday. The most recent win allowed them to jump over their crosstown rivals Milan and return to the top of Seria A standings.

Only a year after leaving Inter Milan to join Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku is packing his bags and flying back to Italy. The Belgian soccer player is re-joining his old club after the Blues sent him back on a one-season loan.

Lukaku’s transfer doesn’t come as a huge shocker since he openly said he’s not happy since re-joining Chelsea. The Premier League club paid Inter a club-record fee of £97.5 million for the 29-year-old player last year, but Lukaku’s been very open about his wish to rejoin Milan.

“I really hope in the depths of my heart to return to Inter, not at the end of my career, but at a still good level to hopefully win more,” Lukaku previously told Sky Sport Italia.

He played for Chelsea between 2011 and 2014 and got used to loans during his first stint for the club. The Blues loaned him to West Bromwich Albion and Everton in the past – but he’s not complaining too much this time around.

“Inter have given me so much and I hope now to do even better than before,” Lukaku told Inter TV, adding that the affection of the fans and his teammates, and the opportunity to work with the coach Simone Inzaghi are the reason why he came back.

According to BBC, Inter Milan is paying a £6.9 million fee to Chelsea for Lukaku’s one-season loan.

Christian Eriksen’s nightmare with Inter Milan might come to an end soon. According to the club’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta, Eriksen will be free to leave Seria A giants in January.

“Is Eriksen on the market? I’d say so, yes,” said Marotta in a chat with Sky Italy on Thursday.

Since his arrival to Italy in January, Eriksen struggled to settle in with Inter and find playing time under head coach Antonio Conte. This was especially the case this season when he made just four starts while his other appearances were mostly garbage minutes.

According to Marotta, the club is aware that Eriksen isn’t playing as much as he should and is willing to send him elsewhere.

“Obviously, we will need to find a solution,” he added.

Christian Eriksen built a reputation as one of the best midfielders in the game during seven years with Tottenham Spurs, but the fact that the club wasn’t competent enough made him want to leave.

He picked Inter among other suitors, believing he could propel the club over the edge and help them challenge for the Seria A title. Having the 28-year-old star was also reportedly a big wish of Inter president Zhang Kangyang.

However, Antonio Conte wasn’t so high on Eriksen and would often overlook him in favor of less creative but more defensive-minded midfielders. This especially became the case when Conte managed to get one of his favorite players in Arturo Vidal, who immediately became a starter over Eriksen despite his short fuse and other shortcomings.

Eriksen will now look to resurrect his career elsewhere, with Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal being among interested clubs.

Chile international Arturo Vidal arrived at Inter Milan on Monday, after the Serie A club signed him from FC Barcelona for a fee of approximately $1.2 million. This move sees Vidal reunite with former manager Antonio Conte, with whom he won three consecutive Serie A titles while playing for Juventus.

The midfielder was one of several players who were frozen out of the Blaugranes squad by new Barca manager Ronald Koeman, who is looking to restructure his squad with younger talents. Upon hearing the news, Conte made a personal request to sign the box to box midfielder.

This transfer sees Vidal return to the Italian top flight after five seasons. In 2015, he left Juventus for Bayern Munich. Following his time in Germany, Vidal spent two seasons in Spain playing for Barca, during which time he struggled to secure a place in the starting lineup.

Inter Milan announced Vidal’s arrival in Italy via their official Twitter page.

Among those who wished Vidal well for on his new journey was Barca captain Lionel Messi, who paid tribute to Vidal on Instagram on Sunday by saying, “I only knew you from playing against you and I always thought you were a phenomenon but after being lucky enough to get to know you personally you surprised me even more. We shared many things in the last two years and you made a huge impact on the dressing room and will be dearly missed. I wish you all the best luck in your new club and I’m sure our paths will cross again.”

Serie A giants Inter Milan seem to have taken an interest in Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante. Inter boss Antonio Conte has reportedly directed his scouting network in the direction of Kante to replace Christian Eriksen, the former Tottenham Hotspur winger who seems likely to leave the club despite only arriving in January.

Chelsea is believed to have made Kante available for transfer due to their excessive spending throughout this summer’s transfer window. To date, they have spent an estimated £200 million on new signings. Just some of the big names arriving at Stamford Bridge in time for next season include Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, and Thiago Silva.

Chelsea’s most expensive signing of the lot, however, has been 21-year-old Kai Havertz, who arrived at the club for a cool £72 million price tag. While Kante might be a casualty of Chelsea’s excessive spending habits, the London club will not be willing to part with Kante for anything less than £80 million. Other Blues’ players who have also caught the attention of Inter Milan include full back Emerson Palmieri and striker Olivier Giroud.

Inter Milan’s top signing so far is right back Achraf Hakimi from Real Madrid for €40 million. They also committed to signing loanee Alexis Sanchez on a free permanent deal from Manchester United.

Despite a recent public rift between Inter Milan and their manager Antonio Conte, the two sides won’t part ways this summer. The Seria A side issued an official statement, saying that Conte will remain at the team’s helm for the 2020/20 season. The club and Conte agree to continue their collaboration on a meeting that took place on Tuesday.

“The Club and Antonio Conte had a constructive meeting today focused on continuity and strategy, in which the two parties laid the foundations to continue working together on the Club’s project,” said Inter in a statement.

Conte was hired by Inter last summer, being tasked with ending Juventus’ dominance in Italy. While he failed to do so, he still guided the team to a second-place in Seria A and Europa League finals appearance.

Known for his temperament and passionate style of coaching, Conte clashed with Inter’s front office several times this season and even accused the club for lack of support. Still, it appears that this didn’t leave any bad blood between two sides as they are gearing towards making another run at Seria A title next season.

Antonio Conte previously worked with Juventus, Italy’s national team, and Premier League side Chelsea among other teams. He has three consecutive Seria A titles with Juve and one Premier League trophy with Chelsea.

Bayern Munich booked their spot in the UEFA Champions League final following their emphatic 3-0 victory over Lyon on Wednesday night.

The Bundesliga giants had the upper hand over their Ligue 1 counterparts for much of the clash, ultimately retaining 66% possession of the ball throughout the 90 minutes.

While the French side had two close scoring opportunities within the first 25 minutes, Bayern made no mistake as Gnabry fired home a stunning goal for the Germans in the 18th minute.

In the 33rd minute, Gnabry grabbed his second goal with a much cooler finish. While Lyon came close after Ekambi received an opportune pass from Houssem Aouar, the French side failed to score yet again as the match continued to slip away from them.

Philippe Coutinho came close to sealing Bayern’s third goal of the night late in the second half, however, his header was ruled offside. Instead, Bayern’s third goal came courtesy of Robert Lewandowski, marking his 15th goal in Europe this season.

This game marks Bayern’s 10th straight Champions League win this season, equaling the record for winning streaks in the competition set by Real Madrid in 2015 and Bayern themselves in 2013. What’s more, this result marks the end of Bayern’s streak of four losses in their last four semi-finals. Bayern face PSG in the Champions League final on Sunday.

Heading into their semi-final matchup against Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter Milan was the clear favorite to win and advance to play Sevilla in the Europa League final on Friday night.

With their 5-0 win over the Ukranian giants, Inter proved that they are a force to be reckoned with and are now on the doorstep of bringing home their first trophy since the 2011 Coppa Italia.

Inter got off to a quick start, taking a 1-0 advantage after a Lautaro Martinez strike beat Shakhtar keeper Andriy Pyatov in the 19th minute. The Italians were unable to increase their lead before the break as their opposition did their best and held together defensively.

It looked as if the second half could be a tense affair until Danilo D’Ambrosio’s goal made it 2-0 in the 61st minute of the match. After that, the floodgates opened.

Lautaro found the net again in the 74th minute to put the game completely out of reach at 3-0, and then Romelu Lukaku scored a pair of goals in the 78th and 83rd minutes to push the scoreboard to a blowout 5-0 final.

It was a dominant performance by Inter, and they will look to take down Europa League giants Sevilla, the winner of the most titles in the competition’s history with five, on Friday night in Cologne.

Inter Milan forward Alexis Sanchez remains in doubt for his side’s second leg of their Europa League semi-final clash with Bayer Leverkusen due to a hamstring injury, the club announced.

Having come on as a substitute in the 64th minute of his team’s 2-1 victory over Leverkusen in the first leg, Sanchez required treatment on his right hamstring shortly after. Despite his injury, he played for the remainder of the game.

Inter Milan’s official statement on Sanchez’s injury reads: “Alexis Sanchez underwent medical tests this morning in Duisburg after suffering an injury during our match against Bayer Leverkusen. The tests confirmed that he has suffered a strain in his right hamstring. His condition will continue to be reassessed over the next few days.”

This is not the first time that Sanchez has been injured since arriving at the San Siro from Manchester United. He was also ruled out of action for the last three months of 2019 due to an ankle injury.

Despite these setbacks, Sanchez has proven to be a valuable asset to the Serie A giants. He scored four goals and bagged 11 assists in 31 appearances for Inter this season. Due to his impressive showings on the pitch throughout his season-long loan, Inter decided to keep Sanchez at the San Siro on a permanent basis, inking a permanent deal with the Chilean just last week.

The Europa League quarter final stages got off to a flying start last night, with two intriguing matches taking place.

The first game of the night saw Serie A giants Inter Milan take on Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen. Inter came into the match fresh off an impressive 2-0 victory over La Liga side Getafe in what was their only leg of the clash due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Leverkusen, on the other hand, defeated Scottish giants Ranger 1-0, thereby winning 4-1 on aggregate.

The game got off to a quick start, with Inter opening the scoring through a Nicolo Barella strike in the 15th minute. Just six minutes later, Romelu Lukaku doubled the home team’s lead. In the 24th minute, Kai Havertz pulled one back for Leverkusen, however, the German team was unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game. 2-1 was the final scoreline.

Following their 7-1 drubbing of LASK on aggregate, Premier League giants Manchester United hosted Danish team FC Copenhagen. Despite getting 26 shots on goal, the Red Devils were unable to rattle the visitors. Ultimately, it took a 95th minute Bruno Fernandez penalty for Man Utd to grab the only goal of the game.
