]]>Speaking with reporters, Ibrahimovic revealed that he didn’t share his decision with anyone prior to making it official.
“Even my family didn’t know because I wanted that when I announced it, everyone heard it at the same time,” Ibrahimovic said.
Ibrahimovic only played four matches this season, recovering from knee surgery and then dealing with hamstring and calf issues. His contract with Milan is set to expire at the end of June, and the club previously made a decision not to renew it. This is what prompted the Swedish star striker to call it quits.
“I want to thank my family. I want to thank my second family: the players, “Ibrahimovic added. “I want to thank the coach and his staff for the responsibility; I want to thank the directors for the opportunity. Last but not least, from my heart, I want to thank you, fans.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic played for nine different clubs throughout his career, including Ajax, Inter, Barcelona, Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Los Angeles Galaxy. He scored a total of 496 goals in his career and won multiple trophies at almost every club he played for. He has five Seria A titles with Inter and Milan combined and four Ligue 1 titles with PSG.

]]>The post Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic Undergoes Knee Surgery, Will Be Out for 8 Months appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Milan confirmed the news via an official statement issued on Wednesday.
“The arthroscopy had been planned for a while to definitively resolve the joint’s instability through the reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament, with lateral reinforcement and meniscus reparation,” said the club in the statement. “The operation was a complete success, and the prognosis is estimated between 7 and 8 months.”
While Ibrahimovic successfully bounced back after similar spells on the sidelines in the past, things might be different this time. He will be 41 once he recovers from the injury, and it is unclear at that point whether he’ll have the motivation to attempt another comeback. Also, he will be out of contract, and Milan might not want to commit to an aging and injury-prone player, especially as they attempt to defend the Seria A trophy.
Ibrahimovic has had an illustrious career, one that can be matched only by a few in the history of soccer. He played for some of the world’s biggest clubs, including Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, PSG, and Manchester United, while winning more than 30 trophies. This includes five Seria A titles, one La Liga title, and four consecutive Ligue 1 titles.

]]>AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli stated during a news conference on Tuesday that the Swedish international would have started his team’s Champions League opening game had it not been for the injury. “He was fine but after the match [on Sunday], he felt a little discomfort,” Piolo explained. “This morning, he tried [to train], but he felt pain so there’s need to take such a risk at this time of the season.”
Piolo also reminded the press that while AC Milan’s clash against Liverpool is of high importance, there are plenty more crucial fixtures in the months ahead that Ibrahimovich will be needed for.
Zlatan Ibrahimovich played a pivotal role in AC Milan’s second-placed finish in Serie A last season, earning the team their first Champions League qualification since 2014.
With Ibrahimovich unavailable, French striker Olivier Giroud is in contention to take his place in the starting 11.

]]>Reportedly, Ibrahimovic injured his calf on Monday and is set to undergo future tests that would determine the severity of the injury. Sources close to the club told Italian media outlets that the injury might have affected the 38-year-old’s Achilles, which would certainly cause him to miss several months.
Ibrahimovic joined AC Milan in December after his contract with MLS side LA Galaxy expired. He made 10 appearances for the club in all competitions this season, scoring four goals. One of those goals came against his former club and Milan’s bitter rivals Inter, making him the oldest goalscorer in Derby Della Madonnina.
If the reports turn out true and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is done for the season, the chances are that he played his last game in Italy. Ibrahimovic signed a six-month contract with Milan, and there were rumors that he will leave in the summer to end his career elsewhere.
One of the most likely options for Ibrahimovic is the return to his native Sweden, where he could sign with Hammarby. He is part-owner of the club and also trained with the Allsvenskan side in past months in order to keep his fitness level after Seria A suspended its season due to coronavirus pandemic.

]]>Media in Argentina reported last week that Ibrahimovic is interested in playing for Boca and is thinking about signing with the club after his contract with Galaxy expires in December. And while player’s agent Mino Raiola immediately denied these rumors, it seems like the story wasn’t completely fabricated.
“It is true that Ibrahimovic wants to play for Boca and it is true that we are in a position to bring him in,” – Anro told Mundo Boca Radio. “The club is in a very good moment institutionally. It is so good financially that it can afford those luxuries.”
Ibrahimovic is currently earning MLS-high $7.2 million and it is expected he would want something near that for his next contract despite turning 38 soon. For Boca, this figure wouldn’t be an issue.
“We would be able to pay Zlatan’s contract.” – Anro added.
Boca Juniors are hoping to pair Zlatan Ibrahimovic with another former European star Roma legend Daniele De Rossi. Boca signed De Rossi in July, bringing him in on a free transfer.
While Galaxy and Ibrahimovic haven’t discussed a new deal yet, it is hard to imagine that the MLS side would let go of the Swedish striker without a fight. In 28 games he played this season, Ibrahimovic scored an impressive figure of 29 goals while also adding seven assists.
