The post Chicago Bulls Have Reportedly Offered 2-Year, $80 Million Contract to DeMar DeRozan appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>DeRozan, who is set to become a free agent in the summer, was reportedly offered a new two-year, $80 million deal. The $40 million annually would represent a big raise for DeRozan, who earned $27.3 million in 2023-24.
It is unclear whether DeRozan would be interested in re-signing with the Bulls before he has the opportunity to test the free-agent market. Johnson adds that the player would prefer a long-term offer at the moment.
If DeRozan hits the free agency market, he is expected to have more than a few suitors, considering he just finished another productive campaign. He averaged 24.0 points to go with 4.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
Retaining DeRozan is a priority for the Bulls this offseason. The veteran has been their best player since signing as a free agent in 2021, and losing him would significantly hurt their chances of being competitive in 2024-25.
Before joining the Bulls, DeMar DeRozan also played with the Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs. He is a six-time All-Star and has two All-NBA Second Team selections to his name.

]]>Woods will be looking to make the cut at the Masters for the 24th consecutive time, which would be a new record. He is currently tied with Gary Player and Fred Couples at 23 made cuts.
Woods made it to the third round at the 2023 Masters but decided to withdraw after play was suspended due to heavy rain on Saturday. Woods explained that he was dealing with a plantar fasciitis injury in his foot and that he was unable to walk properly.
After last year’s Masters, Woods’ only other PGA Tour appearance was the Genesis Invitational in February. He had to withdraw once again, this time citing lower back tightness and flu as the reasons.
Tiger Woods was involved in a car crash in February 2021 and sustained multiple leg injuries that required surgery. This was followed by another surgery in April 2023 to address lingering ankle issues. Since the crash, Woods made six starts and only finished two tournaments.

]]>Brunson not only set his career high, but his 61 points were also second-most in a single game in franchise history. He ended up coming just one point shy from tying Carmelo Anthony’s record of 62 points.
In order to get to 61, Brunson took 47 shots. This is the most in the NBA since 2016, when late Kobe Bryant attempted 50 shots in his farewell game.
While Brunson’s offensive masterclass got the Knicks close to an important win, they just couldn’t close it out. This is something that Brunson acknowledged after the game, saying that his performance “doesn’t really matter”.
“It’s great, but … that stuff is washed out the window with a loss,” Brunson said. “So it doesn’t really matter.”
By failing against the Spurs, the Knicks have seen their chances of making a run for the second seed in the East being diminished. They are sitting at No. 4 with a 44-29 record and are two games behind the second-placed Milwaukee Bucks. Also, they are in danger of losing the home-court advantage, being just 1.5 games ahead of fifth-placed Orlando Magic.

]]>For the majority of the first half, two teams were testing each other out and it seemed the game could go either way. But in the 44th minute, Weston McKennie found Tyler Adams in the middle, who delivered a powerful shot from outside the penalty box that found its way to the net. This was Adams’ first goal in more than two years and his second in his entire international career.
“I try to put guys in situations like that, but when the ball came to me, and I felt like I had time on the ball, it was a no-brainer. So I’m happy that one went in and I’ll probably start shooting a little bit more now,” Adams, who was substituted at halftime due to minute restrictions, said after the game.
Gio Reina later increased USMNT’s lead to 2-0 with a nifty finish from the top of the penalty box in the 63rd minute.
With the win, USMNT not only retained its Nations League title but also extended its run of unbeaten games against Mexico. The U.S. hasn’t lost to El Tri in the last seven games, which is the longest stretch since the two teams played their first game in 1934.

]]>Tom Bogert of The Athletic reports that despite positive talks between the two sides, a deal is not imminent. Giroud will take some time to consider his other options, which include staying in Europe or heading to Saudi Arabia.
If Giroud chooses to join LAFC, he would be reunited with his compatriot Hugo Lloris. Giroud and Lloris were part of France’s national team that won the World Cup in 2018 and reached the World Cup 2022 finals.
Despite turning 37 in September, Giroud has been playing at a high level this season. He has 14 goals and nine assists in 36 matches in all competitions while helping Milan to second place in Seria A standings at the moment and to make a Europa League quarterfinals appearance.
Olivier Giroud started his professional career in his native France, where he suited up for Grenoble, Tours, and Montpellier, among other teams. He made a switch to Premier League side Arsenal in 2012 and became one of the club’s key players, scoring 105 goals in 253 matches in six seasons. Giroud then went on to play for Chelsea before joining Milan ahead of the 2021–22 campaign.

]]>Messi helped Inter Miami to a 3-1 win over Nashville SC in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16, scoring a goal and providing an assist. However, he did all of that in the first half and was forced to leave the pitch just five minutes into the second period.
Speaking with reporters, Martino explained that Messi has “muscle overload” in his right leg and that the team is taking a cautious approach.
“I don’t want to take any risks, but I imagine that he won’t be available for Saturday’s game,” Martino said via ESPN. “That’s the only thing I can say about it now. We’ll have some tests soon, and we’ll see how he feels.”
Messi’s “muscle overload” appears to be an issue that has been around for some time. He was noticed getting treatment in the first leg of the Nashville SC matchup last week while also missing the MLS game against CF Montreal this past weekend.
Messi has five goals and two assists in five games in all competitions this season. Miami is through to the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals while also sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference.

]]>According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Towns will be out for at least a month after the surgery. There is hope that he might return early into the Timberwolves’ postseason campaign.
It is unclear when Towns suffered the injury. He played his most recent game on Monday, scoring 14 points and adding four rebounds in a 119-114 win over the Trail Blazers. Towns was then ruled out of the game against the Indiana Pacers with knee soreness.
Karl-Anthony Towns has been a big part of the Timberwolves’ success this season. Before the injury, he was averaging 22.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting a career-high 42.3% from behind the three-point line. Towns also received his fourth All-Star nod.
The Timberwolves are currently in the midst of a four-way battle for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. They have a 44-20 record, sitting second in the standings with only half a game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, Minnesota is also only half a game in front of the third-placed Denver Nuggets and two games in front of the fourth-placed Los Angeles Clippers.

]]>Evans was set to become a free agent this offseason after he and the Bucs failed to come to terms on an extension last year. There were reports that Evans is ready to test the free agency for the first time in his career, with a number of teams expecting to be in the mix for his services.
Now, Evans gets to continue his career with the Tampa Bay and possibly be “Buc for life.” His contract is reportedly worth $52 million and includes $35 million in guaranteed money.
Evans had one of his best years as a pro in 2023, playing in all 17 games and catching 79 passes for 1,255 yards and NFL-leading 13 touchdowns. He earned his fifth Pro Bowl nod and later added 11 catches for 195 yards and a touchdown in the playoffs.
With Evans set to return, the Buccaneers can now focus on other pressing needs. Probably the biggest focus now will be taking care of the quarterback position. Last year’s starter, Baker Mayfield, is set to hit the free agency, but there is strong interest from both sides to reunite for the 2024 campaign and beyond.

]]>Davies will have just one year left on his contract with Bayern after the 2023-24 season. He has refused to sign a new deal with Bundesliga giants, and it is believed that Real’s interest played a significant part in his decision. Spanish club’s representatives have been in contact with Davies in recent months and have met with the player several times, according to a recent report by The Athletic.
Real is open to engaging in talks with Bayern in order to facilitate a move for Davies this upcoming summer if the German club is ready to accept a transfer fee below the player’s market value. If the two sides are unable to reach an agreement, Real would wait one more year and sign Davies as a free agent.
This wouldn’t be the first time that Real Madrid plucked a player away from Bayern Munich. In 2014, Real managed to land star midfielder Toni Kross on cheap because he had just one year left on his deal. Then, in 2021, Los Blancos snatched world-class defender David Alaba for free after his contract with Bayern expired.
Davies made 27 appearances in all competitions for Bayern this season and has recorded one goal and three assists. His projected market value, according to Transfer Markt, is €70 million.

]]>The post Dolphins to Release Pro Bowl Cornerback Xavien Howard appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Reportedly, the Dolphins will designate Howard as a post-June 1 cut, allowing them to make significant salary cap savings. The veteran was set to have a $25.9 million cap hit in 2024, but now Miami will instead save $18.5 million. They will also incur an $11.5 million dead cap in each of the next two seasons.
The Dolphins drafted Howard in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft, and he has since established himself as one of the most productive corners in the league. He received a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2020, earned four Pro Bowl nods, and led the league in interceptions twice. His 29 interceptions since entering the league are behind only Denver Broncos’ Justin Simmons over the course of the past eight seasons.
Xavien Howard’s huge cap hit isn’t the only reason why the Dolphins are moving on from him. Howard’s production has been declining, as he only combined for two interceptions in the past two seasons. Additionally, Miami boosted its secondary last year by acquiring star corner Jalen Ramsay and drafting South Carolina’s cornerback Cam Smith in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Dolphins are expected to continue making roster moves to get financial flexibility. Shortly after Howard’s release was reported, the franchise announced it was releasing veteran linebacker Emmanuel Ogbah.
