The post Chicago Fire Favorites to Sign Man City’s Star Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>De Bruyne is out of contract with Man City this summer and has already announced that he will leave the club. There is significant interest in his services in Europe, including the Premier League, but Fire is feeling optimistic about their chances at the time. De Bruyne will also have suitors in Saudi Arabia but the player would prefer to move to MLS.
Inter Miami currently holds De Bruyne’s discovery rights, which give them exclusive negotiation rights. The two sides briefly discussed a potential deal but it remains unlikely at the time considering Miami has all of its DP slots filled out.
Several other MLS sides have an interest in De Bruyne, including D.C. United and New York City FC, but Tenorio reports that Fire currently has a priority.
After missing a good chunk of 2023-24 due to a hamstring injury, Kevin De Bruyne was slow to return to form this season. He has six goals and eight assists in 36 games he played in all competitions.

]]>Speaking with reporters after another lackluster performance at the Saudi Arabia GP over the weekend, Hamilton said that his early struggles with Ferrari are “definitely painful.” Hamilton was seventh while his teammate Charles Leclerc finished third for Ferrari’s first podium this season.
“I don’t know how long I’ll struggle for, but it’s definitely painful,” said Hamilton. “At the moment, there’s no fix. So, if this is how it’s going to be for the rest of the year, it’s going to be painful.”
Hamilton added that he can’t pinpoint one particular issue at the moment.
“It’s nothing (I can explain),” he explained. “I’m struggling with the balance. Struggling to feel the car beneath me. But there’s no particular thing. There’s nothing to say, ‘hey, this is the issue’.”
After his blockbuster move to Ferrari, Hamilton was expected to compete for a title once again following several underwhelming seasons with Mercedes. However, he is yet to have a podium finish in 2025 and currently finds himself seventh in the Driver Rankings with 31 points from five races.

]]>Salah and van Dijk were previously expected to leave the Reds when their contracts expire at the end of the season. However, Liverpool made significant progress in talks with both players in recent periods and they are now set to remain with the club beyond the 2024-25 season.
Romano added that right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is also out of contract in the summer, is closing on a deal with La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid.
Managing to keep Salah and van Dijk is a major win for Liverpool. They were crucial in the team’s success in past years while also being a huge reason why the club is closing in on a Premier League title this season.
Salah has been playing some of his best soccer in 2024-25 despite the fact that he’ll turn 33 in June. Egypt international scored 27 goals and added 17 assists in 31 matches in the Premier League so far. Overall, he has 32 goals and 22 assists in all competitions.
Van Dijk, on the other hand, has been as reliable as ever. He played every match and fronted a defense that allowed the second-fewest goals in the Premier League so far in the campaign.

]]>Griezmann publicly spoke about his desire to play in MLS on several occasions in the past. This started to look like a real possibility this summer after LAFC reportedly engaged in advanced talks with his representatives at the beginning of 2025 and felt increasingly optimistic about their chances to bring Griezmann.
However, Griezmann, who has one year left on his contract with Atletico after this season, had a change of heart. Remaining a prominent piece in Diego Simeone’s team, he wants to have one more run in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League and then move on.
Still, Griezmann doesn’t want to stay with Atletico at all costs. If he ends up feeling that his playing time will diminish next season or that the club would benefit from shedding his wages in the summer, he will turn once again to MLS.
Despite turning 34 in March, Antoine Griezmann has been a key player for Atletico in their challenge for the La Liga title this season by scoring eight goals and providing five assists. He also added six goals and two assists in 10 UEFA Champions League appearances.

]]>The post Bengals Lock WR Duo Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to New Contracts appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Chase inked a four-year, $161 million extension that made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history. His $40.25 million annually surpassed the $40 million per year that the Cleveland Browns gave Myles Garrett earlier in the offseason.
Meanwhile, Higgins, who was previously franchise tagged for the second consecutive season, received a four-year, $115 million contract.
The Bengals were highly motivated to sort out the deals for Chase and Higgins in order to keep their quarterback Joe Burrow happy. Burrow previously indicated that he wants both of his top targets in the building for the foreseeable future and even expressed willingness to “take less” in order to make that happen.
Chase established himself as one of the best wide receivers in the league since being taken fifth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He is coming off his best season as a pro, leading the league in catches (127), receiving yards (1,708), and receiving touchdowns (17).
Meanwhile, Higgins has a reputation for being a reliable No. 2 option who would easily be a leading wideout on another team. Injuries limited him to 12 games in 2024 but he still managed to get 73 catches, 911 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns.

]]>The move was widely expected as Lockett was set to count more than $30 million against the salary cap. The Seahawks will now save $17 million while carrying $13.9 million in dead cap for 2025.
Lockett also confirmed his departure from Seattle on social media.
“Although, my time on the Seahawks may have run its course I’m thankful for everything,” Lockett wrote on X (former Twitter).
The Seahawks drafted Tyler Lockett in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, and he quickly established himself as one of the team’s most dependable players. Lockett earned a Pro Bowl nod as a return specialist in his rookie year while also earning Second-team All-Pro in 2016 and 2017. One of his greatest traits was his availability, as he only missed one game as a pro.
However, Lockett’s production dipped in the past couple of years and caused him to slip down the depth chart in 2024 in favor of second-year wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He finished the campaign with 49 catches for 600 yards and two touchdowns.
Lockett previously said that he has every intention of playing in 2025 and there is no doubt that he will have a strong market among playoff contenders and teams looking for veteran leadership.

]]>Since 1976, the Yankees had a strict policy in place that banned their players and staff from having beards and long hair. They had to be either clean-shaven or have well-maintained mustaches. Yankees then-owner George Steinbrenner believed this would instill a sense of discipline. The policy has drawn a lot of criticism, especially in recent years, for limiting the players’ ability to self-express and being outdated.
Steinbrenner decided it was time for a change after gathering feedback from former and current players.
“In recent weeks I have spoken to a large number of former and current Yankees — spanning several eras — to elicit their perspectives on our longstanding facial hair and grooming policy, and I appreciate their earnest and varied feedback,” Steinbrenner said in a statement. “…Ultimately the final decision rests with me, and after great consideration, we will be amending our expectations to allow our players and uniformed personnel to have well-groomed beards moving forward. It is the appropriate time to move beyond the familiar comfort of our former policy.”
Steinbrenner added that he also didn’t want potential free agents to be discouraged from joining the Yankees because of the policy although he reiterated that this wasn’t a deal-breaker in the past.

]]>The Eagles have now redeemed themselves for a crushing Super Bowl LVII loss against the Chiefs in the 2022 season. On the other hand, Kansas City failed in their bid to become the first team to win three straight championships in the Super Bowl era.
While Hurts and his offense were largely unstoppable, it was the defense, helmed by legendary defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, which was the key to Philly’s run to a Super Bowl win. Fangio opted to rely on the defensive line and steer away from the blitz, and it proved to be a winning formula.
Chiefs’ superstar QB Patrick Mahomes never managed to get going, being sacked six times, including a strip sack, and suffering 11 QB hits. On top of that, the Eagles intercepted Mahomes twice and both times ended with a touchdown on the ensuing possession.
“Defense wins championships,” Hurts said after the game. “We saw how they played today. We saw the difference they made in the game. They gave us opportunities, gave us short fields. And we’re able to do what we do.”
Hurts had 221 passing yards and two passing touchdowns while also rushing for 72 yards and a “Tush Push” score. Wideouts DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown each caught a TD while star running back Saquon Barkley finished with 57 rushing yards.
Mahomes threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns while also being the Chiefs’ leading rusher with 25 yards. Rookie Xavier Worthy had eight catches for 157 yards and two TDs while tight end Travis Kelce only managed four receptions for 39 yards.
