It appears that legendary quarterback Tom Brady is having some second thoughts about his decision to retire from the NFL after all. During a recent appearance on the Deep Cut podcast, Brady said that he would “not be opposed” to returning to the NFL.

Brady retired for the first time after the 2021 season but ended up changing his mind less than two months later. He ended up playing in 2022 before retiring once again and saying at the time that his decision was final. Since then, he has rejected the idea of playing again on multiple occasions.

However, when asked by Deep Cut host Vic Blends about how he would react if he received a call from an interested team, Brady gave a surprising answer.

“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady responded. “I don’t know if they are going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team. I’m always going to be in good shape. I’ll always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like MJ [Michael Jordan] coming back, I don’t know if they would let me. But I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

Brady mentioned the possibility of playing for the San Francisco 49ers if they needed a quarterback in the playoffs due to injuries while also mentioning the New England Patriots and the Las Vegas Raiders.

Tom Brady has kept himself busy since retiring from football. He is in the process of joining the Las Vegas Raiders’ ownership and is currently waiting for approval from the league. Brady is also expected to work as a football analyst for Fox Sports in the 2024 NFL season.

Brazil star forward Neymar isn’t planning on staying in Saudi Arabia for too long. According to Brazilian media outlet UOL, Neymar wants to return to his boyhood club Santos in 2025.

Neymar joined the Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli on a two-year contract with a yearly salary of around $220 million in the summer of 2023. He only managed to play five games with his new club, scoring one goal and adding three assists, before suffering an ACL injury.

While rehabbing from his injury in Brazil, Neymar attended Santos’ game against Palmeiras on Sunday and talked with the players in the locker room. During the chat, Neymar reportedly told Santos’ players and officials that he plans to return to the club next year after his contract with Al-Ahli expires.

Neymar joined Santos in 2003 at the age of 11. He signed his first professional contract with the club as a 17-year-old, making his debut in 2009. Neymar ended up playing five years with Santos, making 140 appearances and scoring 72 goals. He helped the club win Campeonato Paulista three times and the Copa Libertadores trophy in 2011.

Neymar left Santos in the summer of 2013 to join La Liga giants Barcelona in a transfer worth €57.1 million. He spent four years with Barca before joining Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray announced on social media that he would be out for an “extended period” after suffering an ankle injury during the 2024 Miami Open.

Murray was eliminated in the third round of the tournament, suffering a 7-5, 5-7, 6-7 (5) loss to Tomas Machac on Sunday. During the third set, Murray rolled his ankle and was in obvious discomfort but decided to tough it out.

According to Murray, he will visit an ankle specialist once he returns to Great Britain in order to determine his next steps.

“Goes without saying this is a tough one to take and I’ll be out for an extended period. But I’ll be back with 1 hip and no ankle ligaments when the time is right,” Murray wrote on Instagram.

This marks an unfortunate development for Murray, considering he might be playing his last season as a pro. After an appearance at the Dubai Tennis Championship in February, Murray hinted that will retire from tennis by saying that he doesn’t “have too long left”.

It is believed that Murray intends to compete at the 2024 Olympics in Paris before calling it quits. He is the only tennis player with consecutive Olympic gold in men’s singles, having won the tournaments in 2012 in London and in 2016 in Rio De Janeiro.

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz is eyeing a quick return to the Formula One grid following an appendix surgery and plans to race at the Australian Grand Prix this upcoming weekend.

Sainz was diagnosed with appendicitis ahead of the qualifying race at Saudi Arabia GP and had to undergo a procedure to remove his appendix. While he hasn’t been in an F1 car since then, the Spanish driver believes he is fit enough to resume racing.

“Just by seeing me move and the exercises that I’m doing in the gym, this tells me I’m fit to jump into the car tomorrow and try,” Sainz told reporters on Thursday.

Sainz is currently scheduled to take part in the first two practice sessions for Australian GP. These practice runs will determine whether he takes part in the qualifiers on Saturday and race on Sunday.

“If I don’t feel good tomorrow, I will be the first one to raise my hand and say that I need another two weeks to the next race,” he added.

Carlos Sainz had a great start to the 2024 F1 season, finishing third at Bahrain Grand Prix. He is likely highly motivated to continue delivering good results, considering he’ll be out of a job at the end of the year. Ferrari has already made a decision not to renew his contract and will replace Sainz with seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton in 2025.

Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel won’t spend the 2024 season out of the NFL after all. NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport reports that Vrabel has joined the Cleveland Browns to serve as a coaching and personnel consultant.

According to Rapoport, Vrabel had already been working for the Browns for a while, being part of their team at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Vrabel spent the past six years as the Titans’ head coach. During that time, he compiled a 54- 45 record while leading the franchise to two AFC South titles and three playoff appearances. His biggest success came in 2019 when the Titans made the AFC Championship Game.

Despite being viewed as one of the top coaches in the league, Vrabel, who was Coach of the Year in 2021, was fired by the Titans following two straight losing seasons. He was mentioned as a candidate for several head coaching vacancies since then, interviewing with the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Chargers, but ended up remaining unemployed.

By joining the Browns, Vrabel gets an opportunity to stay involved in the NFL while waiting for a new opportunity. Also, he gets to work with Cleveland’s defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who worked under him in Tennessee and will be close to his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins doesn’t seem to be interested in playing on a franchise tag in 2024. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Higgins asked the Bengals to trade him after the extension talks between the two sides stalled.

Higgins was out of contract following the 2023 season, but the Bengals decided to place a franchise tag worth $21.8 million on him in order to prevent him from hitting free agency. The team was also expected to engage in extension talks with the player, but that is yet to happen.

According to Schefter, Higgins “loves Cincinnati” and has “hoped to be with the team long term.” However, being disappointed that the Bengals haven’t engaged in any contract negotiations with him since March 2023, Higgins is “now ready to move on to a new home.”

It is unclear whether Cincinnati will entertain trading Higgins. General manager Duke Tobin publicly stated that the team wants him back in 2024, and the franchise tag shows that. However, the Bengals are also reportedly unlikely to give him a new contract, at least not the one he would like, considering they also need to give a new contract to star wideout Ja’Marr Chase, who is extension-eligible this offseason.

Additionally, Higgins’ market might not be as robust as he might expect. He is coming off a down year that saw him struggle with injuries and have his worst season as a pro. Higgins finished the season with 42 catches for 656 yards and five touchdowns.

The Florida Panthers made a big move on Wednesday, acquiring All-Star winger Vladimir Tarasenko in a trade with the Ottawa Senators.

The Panthers have given up a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick and a third-round selection in 2025 to land Tarasenko. As part of the trade, the Senators will retain 50% of Tarasenko’s $5 million salary in 2023-24.

Despite sitting at the top of the Atlantic Division, the Panthers have struggled with getting goals throughout the season. Adding Tarasenko is a significant step in resolving this issue, considering his scoring prowess. Since making his debut in the NHL, Tarasenko compiled six campaigns with 33 or more goals.

This season, Tarasenko’s scoring dropped off, and he has only 17 goals, alongside 24 assists, in 57 games. However, with better playmaking surrounding him in Florida, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he starts racking up goals on a more frequent basis.

The Senators, on the other hand, get some assets for a player on an expiring contract. While the return seems underwhelming, their hands were tied, considering that Tarasenko had a no-movement clause in his contract and was required to green-lit any trade.

Prior to joining the Senators as a free agent this past offseason, Tarasenko also suited up for the St. Louis Blues and the New York Rangers. He is a four-time All-Star and was part of the Blues team that won a Stanley Cup in 2019.

The Philadelphia 76ers will consider it a big success if their star center, Joel Embiid, manages to return from his knee injury by the time playoffs begin. However, Embiid has an even more ambitious plan.

Speaking with reporters earlier this week, Embiid said that he hopes he will be back on the court before the regular season wraps up.

“Obviously everything has to go right, as far as getting healthy and being as close as I’m supposed to be. But yeah, that’s the plan,” Embiid said.

Embiid later added that his decision whether to play or sit out the regular season won’t be affected by the 76ers’ position in the standings.

“Any chances that I get, I wanna be on the floor. So it doesn’t matter where we are [in the standings]. I just want to play as much as I can and try to help us,” he added.

Embiid averaged 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game this season before suffering a knee injury in late January in a game against the Golden State Warriors. He was diagnosed with a lateral meniscus tear and was forced to undergo surgery.

Philly has been in a free fall ever since Embiid got hurt and has lost six out of their last 10 games. They are currently fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 34-25 record, being just one game ahead of the eighth-seeded Indiana Pacers.

Things are not looking good for the Atlanta Hawks. The team announced on Sunday that its best player, All-Star point guard Trae Young, requires hand surgery and will be out for at least four weeks.

Young hurt his hand during the 123-121 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Friday. An MRI test showed that Young suffered a “tear of the radial collateral ligament (RCL) in the fifth finger of his left hand.” He will have surgery this week and be re-evaluated after four weeks, meaning his absence could be even longer than that.

Young has been enjoying a strong campaign in 2023-24, averaging 26.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 10.8 assists per game. He received his third All-Star nod this season, being selected to the 2024 All-Star game by Commissioner Adam Silver as an injury replacement.

With Young out for such an extended period of time, the Hawks find themselves in big trouble. After a poor start to the season, the team looked like it was poised for a strong finish and a place in the Play-In tournament.  But that now seems it could be a bigger challenge than expected.

The Hawks are currently sitting at No. 10 in the Eastern Conference with a 25-32 record. They are 3.5 games ahead of the Brooklyn Nets, the first team currently out of the Play-In picture.

The New England Patriots’ special teamer Matthew Slater is retiring from the NFL. The 10-time Pro Bowler announced his decision on Tuesday via a letter shared on the Pats’ social media.

Slater wrote in the letter that it “has been an honor to represent the silver, red, white, and blue for 16 years.” He proceeded to thank the Pats’ fans, coaching staff, ownership, his teammates, and the New England community for the contributions they made to his career.

“I have given all that I possibly can to respect and honor the game,” Slater added. “Though it is time for my relationship with the game to evolve, the love I have for it will last a lifetime.”

Slater, the son of Hall of Famer Jackie Slater, entered the league as the Pats’ fifth-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft. He served as a kick and punt returner in his rookie year, before transitioning to special teams coverage duties. In 2011, he was named special teams captain, a role he held until the end of his career.

During his time in the NFL, Slater received 10 Pro Bowl nods and was selected to First-Team All-Pro five times while helping the Pats to three Super Bowl wins. He walks away, having appeared in 239 games, second-most in franchise history behind Tom Brady’s 285 games while contributing with 191 tackles, the most all-time by a Patriot special teamer.
