]]>After Wrexham got promoted to League Two, the fourth tier of the English soccer system, McElhenney reached out to Bale on Twitter. The actor proposed a round of golf during which he would try to convince the former Real Madrid star, an avid golf enthusiast, to “un-retire for one last magical season.” The connection made sense, considering that Wrexham is located in Wales and Bale is one of the best soccer players in Welsh history.
Bale actually responded McElhenney without saying no, fueling speculations that he is actually thinking about it.
However, it later turned out that Bale was just looking to score some free golf sessions.
“No, I don’t think so. I think I was looking more for a free round of golf off Rob,” said Bale when asked if there is anything that can tempt him out of retirement. “I’m sure we’ll have a chat and a joke, but I’m quite happy where I am — spending a lot of time with my kids, my wife, time that I’ve lost so much of over the years being committed to football.”
Gareth Bale retired in January 2023 following an unsuccessful run with Wales at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He played his last club season in MLS with LAFC, helping the club win MLS Cup.

]]>Bale returned to the Spurs in September, joining the club on a year-long loan spell from Real Madrid. The Welsh star striker was poised to play a big role in Tottenham’s return to the top of the Premier League, but the injuries prevented him from doing so.
Speaking with reporters ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Fulham, Mourinho confirmed that Bale is unable to play in that game and that he’ll miss several more upcoming matches.
“No, I don’t expect Gareth to be fit,” said Mourinho. “I wouldn’t say it’s a serious injury, but I would say a few weeks.”
Mourinho also added that he also might be without forwards Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius for the Fulham clash.
The unavailability of all three players is a tough blow for the Spurs as the club looks to end the four-game losing streak that dropped them to sixth place in the league.
Since joining Tottenham, Gareth Bale managed to play only 11 games in all competitions, including just six matches in Premier League. He has scored three goals so far.

]]>Bale has been deemed surplus by Real’s manager Zinedine Zidane for some time now, having only played 16 games in La Liga in 2019/20. It became clear that the player has no future at Santiago Bernabeu, but the Spanish powerhouse had a hard time moving him due to his massive salary of around $460k per week. He was close to a move to China last summer, but the transfer was stopped at the last moment by club’s president Florentino Perez.
Tottenham is looking to use this situation and lure Bale back to England, while the player is also believed to have an interest in a reunion. However, since the Spurs are cash-strapped, any move would probably depend on Real’s willingness to keep paying a portion of Welshman’s salary.
Gareth Bale spent six years with Tottenham between 2007 and 2013, establishing himself as one of the best forwards in the world. He played 205 games and scored 55 goals during his time in London before Real acquired him in a record-breaking transfer ahead of the 2013/2014 season.

]]>Bale was close to making a transfer last summer but ended up remaining at Santiago Bernabeu. He was in and out of the starting lineup for the better part of the 2019/20, before being dropped out entirely by manager Zinedine Zidane during the final stretch of La Liga season.
Still, according to Barnett, Bale doesn’t plan on leaving the club despite everything.
“Gareth is fine. He has two years left on his contract,” said Barnett. “He likes living in Madrid, and he is going nowhere.”
“It’s a great loss that he’s not in the Real Madrid team at the moment, but he will not leave.”
Reports surfaced in recent weeks that Bale could also go on a loan, but Barnett ruled out such a scenario.
“Gareth is one of the best players in the world. The best players in the world do not go out on loan,” he added.
Gareth Bale made only 16 appearances in La Liga this season while playing four more games in other competitions. When he was on the field, Bale struggled to make an impact, contributing with just three goals and three assists.
Still, there is a significant interest in Bale’s services from all around the world. The clubs from China are willing to give him a record-breaking salary to lure him to Asia, while several European clubs are also monitoring his availability. These options include a return to Tottenham or going to Italy, where Juventus and Inter Milan would like to sign him.

]]>Bale praised MLS as a “rising” league while hinting that his preferred destination would be Los Angeles Galaxy or LAFC if he decides to come to the U.S.
“I think it’s a league that’s on the up and still rising,” Bale told hosts Charlie Stillitano, Ray Hudson, and Neil Barnett. “I think a lot more players want to come over to America now and play. I’d definitely be interested in it. I love going to Los Angeles on holiday and stuff like that.”
According to Bale, Major League Soccer took a big step forward in recent years and is approaching standards of top European soccer leagues.
“When we come over and play them now in the preseason, the games are difficult,” he added. “The standard is getting a lot better, and I think all the clubs are improving, the facilities are improving, stadiums are improving.”
While it would be shocking to see 30-year-old Gareth Bale making a move to MLS at this point in his career, it should be noted that David Beckham wasn’t a lot older than him when he swapped Real Madrid for Galaxy. Also, Bale’s relationship with Real’s coach Zinedine Zidane deteriorated in recent years, and he was on the brink of departing to China last summer.
If Bale doesn’t return to England as it was rumored in recent months, then he could easily become MLS’ next big star and follow the footsteps of Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

]]>After confirmation from coach Zinedine Zidane and from the club that they were actively looking to move on without the Welsh forward, the team has now evidently decided to keep Bale around against the French coach’s wishes.
After agreeing in principle to a deal with Jiangsu Suning which would’ve sent Bale to the Chinese Super League on a three-year contract, the Spanish club has apparently gotten cold feet and called off the move.
It’s yet another stunning turn in a series of events that have created plenty of drama and tension for the La Liga giants.
After an injury to Marco Asensio and the departure of Dani Ceballos on loan to Arsenal, it’s started to look more and more like Real Madrid couldn’t afford to lose more offensive players. This could be one of the driving factors in the club’s apparent reversal. There’s no doubt, however, that this creates a tense environment in which the coach of the team for which Bale plays doesn’t want him around.
Keep an eye on this story as it develops throughout the rest of the summer because it surely hasn’t reached its conclusion.
