The league will make the final decision during spring owners’ meetings in Minneapolis later in May, but it would be a big surprise if San Francisco isn’t named the host city.

Dr. Keith Meister, who is overseeing Purdy’s procedure, met with the quarterback on Tuesday, during which time he determined that the surgery should be delayed. Purdy and Meister are hoping that the operation can be performed sometime around the beginning of March.

If carried out at its intended date, the surgery’s six-month recovery timeframe would see Purdy return to the field by August at the earliest. This would only be the case, however, if Purdy does not require a hybrid surgery that involves the partial reconstruction of the elbow in addition to a regular repair.
