Borussia Dortmund striker Sebastian Haller will undergo further surgery in an effort to eradicate a testicular tumor. Haller first discovered the tumor while away at a training camp in July.

“As planned from the beginning, different possibilities were considered following the chemo. I tell you that the fight is not over for me,” Haller said. “I will have to undergo an operation to permanently end this tumor which keeps me away from the pitch.”

Since discovering his tumor, the 28-year-old striker has been sidelined from football. He has been undergoing chemotherapy in the months following as part of his treatment plan.

Haller arrived at Dortmund during the summer transfer window, with the Bundesliga team paying a fee of €31 million to Eredivisie side Ajax for the Ivory Coast star.

According to Haller, this surgery should assist him to return to the pitch. The striker delivered a stellar performance with Ajax last season, scoring 34 goals in all competitions, including 21 in the Eredivisie and 11 in the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has announced that the club is open to allowing midfielder Jude Bellingham to leave the club during the next summer transfer window if he wishes. The 19-year-old midfielder is a top transfer target for a range of clubs, among which are Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.

Watzke explained that the club cannot compete with other elite clubs when it comes to offering the highest wages to Bellingham and thus understands should the player decide to depart the Bundesliga team.

“We will hold talks now, as soon as [the World Cup in] Qatar is over, and then we’ll have a fundamental talk about what he would like,” Watzke stated. “He just needs to tell us if he’d like to stay or if he’d like to go. In both cases we’ll talk about it very pleasantly and reasonably together. In general we can imagine that he’d stay with us, but we can’t behave as if this topic wasn’t on the table.”

Bellingham’s current contract with Dortmund is valid through 2025. While his going transfer fee is expected to be in the region of €100 million the English midfielder could fetch as much as €150 million depending on how heated the race for his signature becomes.

Borussia Dortmund coach Marco Rose confirmed on Friday that attacking midfielder Giovanni Reyna is expected to remain unavailable through injury for longer than was initially expected. This comes after the Dortmund and U.S. Men’s National Team player suffered complications to his thigh injury.

In addition to this injury, Reyna also incurred a hamstring injury while representing the United States in a world cup qualifier against El Salvador on September 2. With his tendons and nerves also affected, the 18-year-old has since been ruled out of action entirely.

While currently under rehabilitation, Reyna has experienced several setbacks during his recovery. “It’s really not foreseeable for me when he will be back in training with the team, I have to be honest”, Rose admitted. “But we hope that will happen before the end of this year.”

In all likelihood, however, there is a slim chance that Reyna would be able to return to action before the end of the year. Prior to being ruled out, Reyna enjoyed a strong start to the Bundesliga season, scoring twice in the first three games of the season.

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has become Manchester United’s top transfer target for next season, sources revealed to ESPN on Wednesday. This comes as unexpected news, particularly since the Premier League club has pushed their financial limits to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.

While the club was able to purchase Ronaldo for a relatively low transfer fee, Man United will have to pay the Portuguese a forward a significantly higher wage than his teammates. Reports suggest that Ronaldo could earn £510,000 per week after tax, making him the highest-paid player in the squad by a significant amount.

At the end of this season, Haaland will have the ability to trigger the release clause in his contract, which is reported to be worth €75 million.

Alongside the Red Devils, other clubs that will be competing to clinch Haaland’s signature include Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain.

This is not the first time that the Red Devils have expressed interest in signing Haaland, with the club pursuing the Norwegian striker during the 2019-20 winter transfer window when Haaland instead opted for a move to Borussia Dortmund.

Bundesliga powerhouse Borussia Dortmund announced on Sunday that they have fired their manager Lucien Favre. The decision was due to the team’s poor form in recent weeks and an embarrassing 1-5 loss at home to Stuttgart.

Borussia also confirmed that assistant Edin Terzic will take over the managerial duties on an interim basis until the end of the season. Terzic will be helped by assistants Otto Addo and Sebastian Geppert.

“We are all grateful for Lucien Favre and his excellent work over the past two and a half years, where he and his team finished as runner-up twice,” said Borussia’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke in a statement. “Beyond any doubt, Lucien Favre is a great professional and person.”

Borussia Dortmund entered the 2020-21 Bundesliga season with ambitions to challenge for the title and finally put the end to Bayern Munich’s supremacy in the league. But although they had a promising start, things have looked less than ideal in recent weeks.

In the last five Bundesliga matches, Borussia only managed to capture one win while losing three games. This got them to No.5 on the standings, and they are already trailing leaders Bayer Leverkusen by six points.

Lucien Favre took over the club in the 2018-19 season and has led the club to two consecutive second places in Bundesliga. He managed to get one trophy during his time in Dortmund, winning the DFL-Supercup in 2019.

PSV confirmed the signing of former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund star Mario Gotze on a free transfer on Tuesday. PSV snatched up Gotze after his contract with Borussia Dortmund expired at the end of the 2019-20 season. This move signals the first time in his career that the 28-year-old player will play outside the Bundesliga.

Gotze released the following statement on the PSV website, “I had a lot of offers this summer but I am a man of feeling and make my own decisions. I feel I am ready for a very different challenge and I am confident that this should be a very comfortable transition for me.”

The 2010 World Cup winner made headlines during his time at Borussia Dortmund, thereby earning himself a big-money move to Bayern in 2013. In 2016, he decided to return to the club of his youth for another four-year spell.

Last season, the German international fell down the pecking order at Dortmund, losing out on a spot in the starting eleven and only making 21 appearances in total.

PSV director of football John de Jong had the following to say about his club’s new acquisition, “Mario became interested after our head coach Roger Schmidt had gotten in touch with him, and in the end, he proved to be the godsend we had hoped for. We are delighted he has signed a contract with PSV. We are very proud.”

USMNT star Giovanni Reyna kicked off the new season in a perfect way. Reyna not only got to start for Borussia Dortmund against Borussia Monchengladbach, but he also gave an important contribution to the 3-0 win by scoring his first-ever Bundesliga goal.

Reyna scored in the 35th minute to give Dortmund a 1-0 lead. The 17-year-old player used a confusion in the penalty box and delivered on an intuitive assist from another young star Jude Bellingham.

This wasn’t the end of Reyna’s impact on the game, as he was also the key player on Dortmund’s second goal. The American midfielder carried the ball from his own half to the opponent’s 18-yard box before being taken down. The referee awarded the penalty, which was converted by Erling Braut Haaland.

Giovanni Reyna already had a strong start of the new campaign, scoring four goals during Dortmund’s friendly matches. He then added another one during the DFB Pokal win over Duisburg last week.

“I think that I am ready to take on a bigger role, and I think you’ve seen that in the first few games I started,” said Reyna, who became the second-youngest American scorer Bundesliga after Christian Pulisic, after the game. “It’s gonna be a tough season with a lot of games. It’s really about how I can help the team and score goals and give assists.”

Borussia Dortmund decided to cut their losses with Andre Schurrle and release the German forward one year before his contract was set to expire.

Schurrle just recently returned to Borussia, after spending the 2019/20 season on loan with Spartak Moscow. The 29-year-old played 13 games while in Russia, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

Schurrle joined Borussia on a five-year deal from Wolfsburg back in 2016 in a transfer worth around $35 million. Despite being tipped as one of the key players for the team at the time, he ended up playing just 51 games with the club.

“On reflection, it was a period with highs and lows – but also with many valuable experiences both on a sporting and, in particular, on a personal level,” said Schurrle in a statement. “I would like to thank those responsible at BVB and wish the club and its special fans all the best for the future.”

Throughout his career, Schurrle also played with Mainz 05, Bayer Leverkusen, and Chelsea. He also made 57 appearances with Germany’s national team and was part of the squad that won the World Cup in 2014.

Inter Milan has reportedly come to an agreement with Real Madrid valued at $45 million, plus $6 in add-ons, to sign the talented right-back Achraf Hakimi to a contract.

Hakimi, who has spent the past two seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund, will reportedly travel to Italy to undergo a physical and sign his contract this week, meaning that his incorporation to the squad could be immediate.

The Morocco international, who was born in Spain, has played in 54 games over the past two seasons for the Bundesliga side, establishing himself as a regular starter on one of the strongest teams in Germany.

There was recently talk that Hakimi could return to Real Madrid next season in order to replace or provide competition to current starting right-back Dani Carvajal, However, Los Blancos will either continue to stick with Carvajal or simply go in another direction in the future.

Hakimi will be expected to come in and start immediately for the Black and Blues, taking over for Danilo d’Ambrosio. He will become the second-most expensive transfer in the history of the club, falling behind only Romelu Lukaku’s $73 million move to Milan last summer.

The deal is expected to be announced officially later in the week.

Borussia Dortmund is counting on United States teenager Gio Reyna to be a big part of the team’s future. Borussia’s sporting director Michael Zorc recently told reporters that they are looking to sign Reyna to a long-term contract and want to keep him with the club “as long as possible.”

Reyna already played 14 games in the Bundesliga this season despite only turning 17 in November. He also scored his first goal for the senior team in February, which further convinced the team that they need to keep him.

“Our coach, Lucien Favre, and I agree that he has a big future ahead of him,” said Zorc.

Reyna has a youth contract until 2021, but Zorc doesn’t want to take any risks and intends to give the American a professional deal as soon as he turns 18.

“He is still a minor, but we are in very positive talks to, once he turns in 18, keep him at the club for as long as possible,” he added.

Gio Reyna, who is the son of former USMNT captain Claudio Reyna, started his career with the New York City FC’s academy. He joined Borussia youth team in the summer of 2019, but it didn’t take him much to find his way to the seniors. Reyna made his pro debut in January against FC Augsburg, and at 17 years and 66 days broke the record as youngest American to appear in Bundesliga game. The previous record was held by Christian Pulisic.

Reyna went through the majority of the U.S. youth teams, most recently playing for U.S. U-17 selection. He took part in the team’s CONCACAF U-17 Championship, where the U.S. won a silver medal.
